Snub of the Week

Although I give credit to KLO-MA-DAN for defeating HYN-ALC-ROB, I feel that RAY-MA-MAT got a raw deal this week in terms of Team of the Week. In my mind, it was fairly obvious they were the Team of the Week.

RAY-MA-MAT lost earlier in the day to HYN-HRB-RUS (BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!) and had to be feeling god-awful about themselves. In a matchup of an 0-3 team versus a respectable 2-1 squad consisting of ALC-HRB-DAV, you had to feel sorry knowing that RAY was going to lead them to another heart-breaking loss.

But there was something special in the air, and on this night, they would put on a performance for the ages. RAY almost had a triple-double with 5 points, 4 rebs and 2 assist. Not to be outdone, MA almost put up a triple-double himself with 4 points, 5 rebs and 2 assist. MAT chipped in with a respectable 3 points and 2 rebs. They combined for 2-4 shooting from 3-point land and 10-20 overall. Offensively, they had two guys that almost had a triple double while shooting 50% from the field. That is pretty ridiculous.

But that isn't all. To add insult to injury against their opponents, this mammoth of a squad decided that dominating on offense just wasn't enough. They wanted to crush their foes dreams' on the defensive end as well. They held ALC-HRB-DAV to 0-10 shooting and a combined 10 rebounds. Dude......that is straight-up OWNAGE if I've ever seen it.

I think we all know how difficult it is to shut-out a team in the BBA. But the way RAY-MA-MAT did it in such dominating fashion was astonishing. I'm gonna say it right now: No team will EVER be destroyed the same way ALC-HRB-DAV got trounced this weekend.

To this I must say: How is it possible that Kevin overlooked these guys for team of the week?!?!?!?!?!?! It's baffling.

  1. Even recognizing my own impartiality, I have to agree with you on this one Huyen. Do a poll, and let the people speak!
Personally I am happy that the Ma-Matt-Ray trio could finally get out of the basement, and back on the road to respectability. More importantly, I hope that we all learned a lesson about team cohesiveness and how far that can take us. Everyone else on our schedule better watch out now!

  2. I actually made a mistake. Looking at how I wrote down that ALC-HRB-DAV got 10 rebounds (which I thought looked wrong considering it was a quick shut-out), these guys actually had HALF of that for a total of FIVE REBOUNDS. Amazing job on the boards by RAY-MA-MAT.

  3. Haha, unfortunately for me, that loss to a winless HYN-HRB-RUS team that is now 1-3 offset their 12-0 shutout of a very AVERAGE if I might say ALC-HRB-DAV team.

HYN-ALC-ROB was a team with their sights set on 6-0, with the top two ballers this year as well as the man who just knows how to win. KLO-MA-DAN were huge underdogs in my opinion. Without this win, HYN-ALC-ROB would be alone at the top at 4-0. Huge win in terms of the overall standings.

RAY-MA-MAT will get their chance against HYN-ALC-ROB in the weeks to come. Now if they can shut THAT team out... But it's now apparent the ALC-DAV combo has a tendency to get shut out, and it's also not just one game/win that decides the Team of the WEEK. RAY-MA-MAT could have given RAY-DAN-DAV some company by beating HYN-HRB-RUS and sending them down to 0-4!

  4. When you think about it, HYN-ALC-ROB is THE most stacked team in the league, with 3 of the top 5 ranked ballers. Compared to ALC-HRB-DAV, who has 2 of the bottom 3 ranked ballers. Wait.. HOW IS HRB BALLER RANK 10??

  5. Since I was in both of the teams, which one seemed more satisfying? I am leaning towards KLO-MA-DAN. Why? When Dan made the first 2 points of the game, got me all pumped up. I was able to muster up some extra energy to keep that lead. Then Huyen started to drain the 2's near the end of the game to come back, got me all worried haha. Yea....rankings does make a difference, feels satisfying to beat a top rank team.

The RAY-MA-MAT was good too. Total domination felt good, but a closer scoring game deserves the team of the week.
