In addition, people are much to strict on the definition of an assist. When you record assist, think of it in the loosest terms. The shooter doesn't need to shoot immediately after the pass. As long as the pass contributes to getting the shooter the shot, it's an assist. The shooter can still take a dribble or two for it to still be an assist: imagine a cherry picker who gets a half court pass, takes a dribble to set up a wide-open layup. That is most definitely an assist, regardless of whether he took a dribble or not.
When in question, give them the benefit of the doubt!
I agree with this and will do my part by yelling "assist" every time I pass the ball...
ReplyDeletebut seriously, I will help keep track when I am not on the court.
i am sad i am not playing. i'd light up Mike the newbie for sure. he doesn't know any of my tendencies. so sad :(
ReplyDeletehaha, i think its best to ask everytime. That's what i do when i do assists. I think if you got an assist, you should yell it out and if your doing assists, you should ask every questionable stat to get some affirmation from all that were watching and just go with majority.
ReplyDeletei think 2 people should do assists.. i find that helpful
ReplyDeleteSo basically, even though we give Dan shit for yelling out every stat he compiles, we should all follow suit? Done and Done.
